Welcome to NotesUnearthed.com!
Hi! Among other things, on the internet I am most commonly known as Vivisected, so I maintain that moniker here. I started this website because I found that researching new music that interested me was very challenging. It seems you can spend hours and hours just looking for newer bands and never find anything good. Worse yet, many of the sites I discovered that are useful either update very infrequently or simply do not.
As a response to this, I decided to create my own site. I wanted to make a resource people could go to frequently to learn about new bands, hear about older good ones, and maybe get some lifestyle information along the way.
I’ve been a part of gothic/deathrock culture in some way for well over 15 years now and my personal interest is rooted mostly in the rock and roll aspect of this music subculture, although my own music writing experience spans the gamut. On a given day, my ipod moves from jazz to funk to deathrock to new wave and back again. My dream for this site is to create a space where people can hear a few songs and read a well written review about albums that might be of interest to them.
All that being said, you’ll notice a rating bar included with all my posts. This is a space for you to rate what you’ve read and heard. I WILL take these into consideration when choosing new albums for review. Additionally, if you have band with a current release (less than a year old) and you’d like me to review it, feel free to contact me with the form on this site. Please keep in mind the parameters of the site. I absolutely will NOT review any album that does not fit into the Post Punk, Deathrock, or Gothic Rock genres.
If you’d like to contribute to this site either on a once in a while or a more regular basis, feel free to contact me via the form as well. Please include a writing sample (perhaps an album review) as well.
I’d like to offer a special thanks to Ryan Crawford for providing the artwork for the site out of the goodness of his heart and strength of our friendship.
update: If you’d like to link to this site, by all means, please do! Below is a graphic for that purpose. As always, comments, suggestions, etc are always welcome.
