The Smiths 15, September 2008
Songs like “This Charming Man” play on the pre-occupations of young people and focus on appearance, while other songs like “Suffer Little Children” deal more directly with matters of life and death. Somehow it seems as though even the most heart-wrenching Smiths songs have an element of humor in them.
That certain something that captured the attention of Brits in the 1980s remains something many feel passionately about. Morrissey went on to do his solo thing and while Johnny Marr has made some very public attempts to re-establish himself, none of the other Smiths made it back into the limelight. Even still, The Smiths remain one of the most influential bands in modern Rock N Roll that continues to endure as a standard of excellence.
